Alternatives to “Movie” and Their Associated Asshole
Flick: Your father gearing up to tell you the entire plot of a movie you literally watched together last September.
Cut: Guy on Twitter who decided he knows more than a century-old film studio.
Story: Jeremy Strong (in the middle of telling an interviewer all human beings are storytellers).
Matinee: Your Uncle Ray inviting you to Godzilla vs Kong at the AMC 18 on a Sunday morning.
Project: An MFA student wearing a scarf with a t-shirt.
Film: A Redditor that created a newsletter dedicated to The Boondock Saints.
Adaptation: Middle-aged man who hosts a Frasier rewatch podcast but never saw Cheers.
Retelling: A woman at Starbucks gushing over their “if Dracula dated Sherlock Holmes” script. (They’re still in the research phase of writing.)
Nightmare: Person too interested in a horror teaser who’s about to shove a phone in your face.
Installment: Kevin Feige describing the 7th movie to come out after one that was literally titled “Endgame.”
